On February 9 at 6:00 PM, we welcomed Mayor Rick Loeffler, City Manager Andy Hall, and City Planning Chairman Cameron Cosgrove to the clubhouse for a town hall meeting. Attendance was outstanding, with approximately 150 homeowners present. For those who were unable to attend, below is a summary of the key points discussed:
DMV Site Development:
City Manager Hall confirmed that no redevelopment plans or permit application for the DMV site have been submitted. Mayor Loeffler added that the City will notify the community once an application is submitted. He also noted that the City Planner met with the developer on January 29, 2026, and that the developer is considering a condominium/townhome residential project for the site; however, the project is currently on hold at the Coastal Commission level.
City’s Housing Overlay:
Planning Commissioner Cosgrove confirmed that the City has not approved an Affordable Housing Overlay for the DMV property.
Easement and Parking Lot:
City Manager Hall confirmed that our easement and parking lot are not at risk, as eminent domain does not apply in this situation.
Cease and Desist Letter:
Hall stated that the City received a copy of the cease and desist letter drafted by our Association’s attorney and sent to Space Investment Partners, the new owner of the DMV site, and NorCal Engineering regarding drilling and trespassing on our private parking lot.
Resident Guidance: Hall encouraged residents to contact Police Services immediately if any future trespassing occurs on our property. He also invited homeowners to reach out to him directly with any questions at (761) 289-2788 or via email at halla@san-clemente.org
